What is embryo transfer?

Embryo transfer (ET) places an embryo into the uterus of a recipient female that will carry the pregnancy. Embryos may come from IVF or conventional embryo collection. In cattle, transfer is commonly performed nonsurgically.

Discuss Embryo Transfer

Planning for your herd

Transfer planning focuses on embryo information, recipient suitability, and alignment between the recipient’s reproductive stage and the embryo’s stage of development. Whether you already have embryos or are planning a donor program, Boyden Veterinary can discuss the recipient side of your breeding goals.

Recipient health, body condition, reproductive history, and management affect the program. Embryo transfer does not guarantee pregnancy or resolve every fertility problem. The practice must assess animals and confirm timing and logistics.
